I'm using Canadian Borders Outfitters (CBO) for this years Quetico Journey and had to make some adjustment to our reservation by replacing a 3 Person Canoe with a Tandem. They told me they are getting in a NEW supply of the 17 Wenonah Canoe.

Has anyone had a chance to paddle this Canoe? I will have two rookies in it and assume we are good to go

"the Original" Yeah baby!

No, I've not had the pleasure. The specs seem like classic dimensions. More rocker than you'd need.

I've paddled the MNII a few times. It's a good boat, except a little tight up front. The MNII is harder to control solo than the SR Q17, e.g. when paddling out to get water or just float fishing in the evening...The MNII doesn't turn as easily.

The MN2 is 18.6 feet long. The Boundary Waters is 17 foot, the Aurora is 17 foot, the Escape is 17 foot.... :-)

Well...I learned something new. I've rented from VNO and I always assumed the MNII was 17.5. I never actually asked or measured.

At a max width of 37", the Wenonah 17 should prove stable. The 2" of rocker will make it more maneuverable, but it will not track as well as a canoe with less or no rocker. For rookies in a tandem, I'd recommend a Souris River Q 17. Stable, carries a huge load and tracks well.

Good Point Andy... I'm taking Bogwalker's SR 17 Also and will put the girls in that and Mark who has many trips under his belt with take the 17 Wenonah and I can mock him as he struggles to keep up with me in my SR Q18.5 with 3 paddlers. Life is good :-)

Hmm, will have to take a look at that one. So, funny that it really doesn't have an "official" name, eh? :-)
