The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

High wind catching me by surprise on a large lake concerns me most. While I really don't worry about myself on my trips I find my mind wandering to those back at home and having thoughts about their safety and health. Pretty weird when I'm out in the wilderness I worry about those back in civilization?

After much thought, I have come to this conclusion: Nothing.

a fall on a remote portage,as i get older that seems more likely.
weather is something i can handle, in camp i just get into my Akto tent and sit it out and i never go anywhere near bad water so no problems there. a PLB is my next big buy by next season.
thinking about it while working on this i recalled a guy i met at a portage this spring.he gave me a hard look and said i should not be up there alone at my age,67.

Car problems on the way up. I could care less on the way back because im good staying a couple extra days. I do think that im going to start using rental vehicles to go up to the gunflint, because then I could care less if it breaks down, on to the next.

Right!! After experiencing a major breakdown once on the way there I now get very anxious when on the road to the BW. Once I get there I'm totally fine.
Sometimes I do get concerned about getting a major injury like a broken arm or ankle but that just makes me more careful.

Lightning for me too. Then seeing someone else and perhaps having to leave the lake if they strike camp. Then bears.
Hypothetically, my greatest fear is lightning-breathing bears who strike camp beside mine.

He should have said, "You are a badarse," and then stepped aside and bowed.

My biggest concern is some sort of injury to myself while I am traveling with my wife. Broken ankle, bad cut, dislocated shoulder, etc.
I talk to my wife about this kind of thing before each trip and make sure she has an action plan in place in case I am knocked out of commission. The thought of leaving everything up to her concerns me. I know she could do it but I'd hate for her to be in that position.

I have often worried about these, I thought I saw one once, then noticed my bottle of Jeremiah Weed was empty, so I went to bed instead
:)
Today could be your last chance to be good to yourself

Did he think you should be accompanied by someone older so you don't get caught up in any hijinx?

Out of control, extreme team.

Hate to talk about it, but mine is strokin out and leaving my son there to figure it out.
That's why my next major equipment purchase is going to be a PLB (thanks Kanoes).
Seems the only responsible thing to do.
