Starting June 19th I have a group of four doing a small Frost River Trip.
We will start in Missing Link Lake to Tuscarora Lake. Then to Jerry and Mora Lakes. We will then go down to Whipped Lake to Afton Lake and the Frost River. We will then leave through Balonga Lake to Frost Lake up to Long Island Lake to Rib Lake to Cross Lake to Ham Lake.
Has anyone done a similar Trip? If so, are there any good hiking areas long this route?
Thanks!

Hopefully the water levels will be a little higher to keep you from having to pull your canoe along sections of the Frost river. There are plenty of switchbacks and portages and beaver dams. Our group noticed a couple of cut outs in the river bog where people took shelter for the night. They must have underestimated the time it would take to get through the river.

We enjoyed the campsite on the west side of frost lake with a nice beach. The pond a short hike from camp had the moose. We do not seek out hiking on our trips so I cant help you out there.

Enjoy your trip.

You might want to scroll through the Trip Planning Forum for additional information on the Frost River. About a month ago, there were a couple of posts, and replies by myself and others regarding the Frost River route.

There's also a trip report posted by UncleMoose on the thread that I've included a link for below.

It would be interesting to go up the Frost vs going down the Frost. I wonder what kind of current you'll have. I'd do it the other way myself. Then you'd be a little lighter going over the big portage out of Tuscarora and going with the Frost current.

Like Hans said... Good question for the Trip Planning Forum and there is good info there. Check it out.
