Correct me if I am wrong. I wonder how many were on this blog its first year? Did it take a while to build up its members? Time flies, but will be 4 years in December for me.
How many years you been paddling here?
It seems membership is fairly stable here compared to other boards?

Joined just over two years ago and lurked around for a couple years in '08 and '09 but a lot in 2009. I can't say for sure, but I probably visited the site several times in 2002/2003. I was stationed in Italy doing law enforcement and we worked 12 hour shifts, 6 - 6. On those night shifts when I had the dispatcher duty, I would sit at a computer surfing the web. I would look up a lot of stuff and I recall looking up website's having something or anything to do with Minnesota quite often on those night shifts because I missed home and had only four years left until I would be moving back so I would look up everything and anything I could that would lead me to where in the state I would want to settle down, where I would want to work and of course, the outdoors and outdoor activities and other items. Since I have enjoyed the BWCA since the early 80's, I can only assume I looked it up and found the website. If I did, I wish I would have joined at that time!

Wow, upon seeing this thread I looked at my profile and was shocked that I'd joined in Jan '06. If you'd asked me, off the top of my head, when I first heard of this site and when I joined I'd have guessed about 2008-2009!

I was similarly surprised to find that it has been 6.5 years: profile says April 6, 2006. As a result, nearly one-third of my 28 BWCA trips have now been 'guided' with the help of the good folks here.

There were way less forums.. I think only 4? One was only for quotes or thought of the day or something like that. I suggesteded we come up with a new name of 'around the campfire' and then someone else came up with Listening Point. It was a good switch

Had joined under my real name in 2004, but never posted. Came back and joined as BWP in March 2010. I'm an official TODDLER here for 2.5 years!
