I did it last year, but it's not in the cards this year. Hoping next year again. It's very scenic. It's also pretty hard for a half marathon with the hills. You start off going up from Gunflint Lake. But overall there is a net loss of altitude.

HO HO-I thought you did.
I probably would just start small and do the 5K. I thought it would be nice time to maybe socialize with a few people. Than spend the weekend doing a few canoe day trips.
My max in my life was about 10 miles running aprox. 20 years ago. That is a few miles under the bridge of life since than. But retired now,I have plenty of time to get in shape(Always dreamed of doing a 1/2 marathon or so),I just got to do it and quit eating those M&M almonds(I love them).

I have had it on my radar. Next year as a group run sounds good.
Last year I ran the Grand Traverse in Duluth, not advetised heavily but very tough, very tough race. Beautiful scenery and great after party. This year the Birkie half marathon.

I saw this on the info. link: The Little Runts Run- I like the idea of starting with this race.
The only running I've done has been for sports. Two of my co-workers are getting into marathons. They are trying to convince me to start running. I will admit his would be more fun than running in a big city!

I have never run more than a 10K but for the last two years have ALWAYS said if I EVER run farther, this is the half marathon I would do. I ran up on the trail over Easter weekend and it is hilly but there's no scenery more inspiring to me. It gives me more energy to run there. I would be game NEXT year. I would love to know if anyone else decides to train for it.
