by Roseann Lloyd, sister of Lloyd Skelton, who died on Angleworm Lake in 05...
She is reading from her forthcoming book about Lloyd tonight at Birchbark Books. She asked me to present my paintings-- Starfall and Angleworm Lake-- to accompany her poems.
You might recall his death--- and the mystery that surrounded it. They never found his body. He was an avid and gifted outdoorsman and chess player, among other things. He also suffered from depression and alcoholism. His fate might never be known, but his sister, Roseann recollects his spirit and his love for nature, esp the BWCA, in her poems.

It was an amazing evening. Roseann asked if she could use Starfall as the COVER for her book! I was floored and thrilled and humbled.
Her poems about her brother that she read tonight were wonderful. THis will be her eighth book of poetry. She's won many awards, including the MN book award for Tap Dancing for Big Mom.
Hearing about Lloyd, his love for the boundary waters-- she captures so beautifully in her poems, made me cry.
Yes, they found his clothes, but never his body. I've talked to her a number of times about what he might have experienced. She gropes to know, but is resolved to live with the mystery, and even embrace it as she knew that more than anything, he worshipped the mystery of the wilderness.

quote BWPaddler: "Wow. Just wow. I can't imagine.
Congrats Tremolo on the book cover - well deserved."
Let me add to that "well deserved". Two amazing talents putting their art together. Wonderful combination. Much congratulations, molo.
Please let us know when this book comes out and we can purchase it. It sounds like something I would be honored to grace my bookshelf here.
We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.
