Indeed, there are no words to express the amount of gratitude that you all deserve. I am in eternal debt to the job that you all do for the rest of us working 9 to 5. Thank you for your sacrifice.

Today is the day where we celebrate and appreciate the veterans of past and present, who have provided for us, the freedoms we have today. There is nothing we can ever do to repay them. So, we shall forever show them our respect and love. Thanks guys. I salute you.

Amen to that.

A few years ago I was on a fishing trip to Lac Seul near Sioux Lookout, Ontario. We passed by nine memorials on nine separate small islands, each with a flagpole and cairn of rocks. Nine soldiers from that area had given their lives during World War II in defense of freedom. I cannot think of a better way to honor their service.

Peace and solitude are possible because of the sacrifice of such men and women. In July I will be in the BWCA and I will raise my paddle and salute those who then and now have served our nations and the cause of freedom. Included among those I honor are two childhood friends who gave their lives during the current Iraq conflict. Both men were in their mid-40's and could have long since stepped away from danger. God's peace to them and their families.
