My Trip starting this weekend has been canceled. Maid_Marian and I were going to spend four nights in all by ourselves. But due to the major impact the flooding has had on family in Minot ND to include her parents, we will for go our trip to go and help with the cleanup efforts.

Sorry to hear of your trip cancellation but you are doing a great thing by helping the people of Minot. The flooding was really bad and the help they need is very important.

Wing Night In Minot?? I tried talking my inlaws into coming to Duluth and purchasing sheetrock and carpet so we could bring it out for them. I would assume this stuff will be hard to get a hold of very soon.

Bummer about the trip, Sotaman. Super bummer about your in-laws in Minot. What a mess that has been. You might still want bring your water filter, if I remember correctly Minot and other cities had drinking water issues after the flood.

Dang. Mother Nature's been hard on folks this year. Hope you get family back in shape and can perhaps schedule a fall getaway with maid marian!

I am always ready to go, and its been a couple years since I have done a real trip. But I do get to spend a lot of time in my canoe and we make a couple day trips to Ely and Grand Marias every year. I dont know how much longer that can hold me over.

I have no doubt this is the right thing, and it wasnt even a question just hard to read all the great trip reports hoping I can make a trip happen next year.

I'm sorry to hear that. This has been a strange year for flooding. It's July for pete's sake. I lived in Fargo/W.Fargo from the time I was 5 until I was 12, so I understand.But it's a good thing that you can help your family. I am assuming that they were flooded out :(

Hard day today should be driving down at lunch to pick up my permit from the Superior Forest Service Center here in Duluth. Really not looking forward to heading to Minot. I dont want to see the damage I have seen enough of that in my life. Besides Minot holds a very dear place in my heart. This will be hard to see.

Really sorry to hear this, its bad enough that theres flooding, but add on a cancelled bwca trip, thats not good. Maybe you can treat yourself to a fall trip and see the true splendor of the bwca.
