I posted this in the, "Trip Report" forum. I thought I would try it here.
By the way, this website is thee BEST website for BW and generally Northern MN camping. Nice job to all of you! Not schmoozin, just saying...
[repost]Hello, Last time I was on Kawishiwi I was trying to find site 1006 - on the Northwest side near the river. Is it hard to see? Is it still active? I am bringing a couple that has a difficult time with paddling and portaging. Is there a good site for 4 people on Kawishiwi? Thanks much.

(edit) 1007 site seems kind of small for 2 tents. One response said that 1006 is higher up and doesn't offer much shade. I know the point site, 1010 is OK for just me. I am practicing the process of elimination. Thanks much in advance

1006 by the river should have plenty of space for you. Stayed there in '05 and it wasn't bad. Had three tents set up, no problem.
The shoreline up is a somewhat gradual-sloping rock, as I recall. might have to set up a tarp for decent shade around the firepit area.

I've stayed at the little campground at the EP a couple of times (08 and 09) and looked at some of the campsites while out fishing.

My memory agrees with what the other 2 said about site 1006 by the river. I think 1007 on the island would be ok. 1011 was very small and would be my last choice. Of the ones on the points (1010 and 1008) 1008 looked to be better and have more room. We didn't go near 1008 because it was occupied but the group staying there was pretty big. 1009 in the bay would have plenty of room for your group. It has a nice big open area, yet plenty of shade and a very nice sandy beach. I don't think I'd like being sandwiched by the 2 point sites so close though.
