stern here. have to have the MN sticker on the bow...they kinda clash. :)

I don't know of anyone that really adheres to this, and I have never heard of anyone being fined, but acording to the "Minnesota Boating Guide, a summary of laws and rules", "No other number, letter, or design may appear within 24 inches of the license number or decal."; and "If your canoe, kayak, rowing shell, paddle boat, sailboard or sailboat doesn’t have a motor, place the decal on each side of the forward half of the craft."

So technically the BWCA.com decal can not be within 24" of the registration decal.

I'm kinda thinking middle under the Wenonah.

You're right, but most of the outfitter decals I have to remove as we refurbish canoes are within inches of the license.

How would those rules apply to a canoe from Wisconsin? Now I'm just confused. Guess we'll put our decals on the stern (though I think the moose looks a little better on the bow for some reason, LOL).

I need decals. I only have one. I bought a set and made one into a car magnet. So our canoe is naked!

Stern this time.

The decals look a little low when placed under registration numbers. Is the moose then "standing" in the water?

I think I would like a little BWCA.COM flag on the stern - using a stiff spring for a "pole". Or maybe a bobble head moose....

03/18/2011 11:08AM
Oh yeah...bobble head.

03/18/2011 11:48AM
I was thinking of stern on one side and bow on the other.

03/18/2011 12:48PM
Shouldn't they be placed upside down so when you're carrying the canoe on car or portage others can read it? It doesn't make sense to have it the way you all have them stuck on (except the cycle). I guess everyone needs to buy more now...

03/18/2011 12:56PM
I have mine up on the bow on the Prism and the stern on the green sundowner.

I have mine in the bow, right about the same place the previous, outfitter owned, decal was... So, even outfitters neglect this 24" rule i guess. In the stern I have a Rapala decal on either side.

We have placed our decals as AndySG has indicated, one side bow the other stern.

And as 520eek has said no one over here can figure them out.

Once however I was conversing with some paddlers at a portage in the Adirondacks about our SR canoe, also extremely rare in NE. They asked about the sticker and one of them said he had seen it before, I got a bit excited and asked him where, he said in the parking lot for this entry. My excitement quickly faded as I knew it was our car, oh well, eventually it will happen.

@ Bobba,
That is a common story in Nebraska also...What is the BWCA? and what is with the Moose? and why are you going to Wisconsin? And what is this camp out thing your going to in Minnesota? hahahaha
I here it often about the Stickers. I do my best to explain.

Once I get another set of decals, I have decided to do a stern placement.

Now that that's settled....

Actually it is a bmw propeller emblem but it has " K L R " in place of the more familiar " B M W " which makes it quite hilarious!

I also have been blatant in my disregard for the legal placement of said decal and have opted for best visual placement or grouping. I'm thinking also that I have not been stopped because they simply cannot catch me. :]
I have enough steeekers to make me very fast.
I tried to load a pic but it would take.
