Really, I have $200 at REI, in gift cards, my 20% coupon expires sunday, and I'd like to stretch those dollars!

So, assuming you have everything you "need" (i use that term loosely) to take a trip to the BWCA, what would you spend up to $200 on at REI,
considering you get 20% off of one item?

remember you already have the required gear and it is all in good condition.

I am thinking a Hennesy Hammock, but would love to know what you guys/gals would buy!

Pair of Keen Sandals-I have one pair but would love another

If you eat feeze dried consider the jet boil system

A great down bag (Marmot, Mountain hardwear) rated to 15 degrees or 0 depending on when you go and how cold you sleep.

all new moisture wicking clothing

If you don't already have one, a portable multi-purpose radio for music, sports, emergencies, ect. It looks like you could pick one up for under $50 and around 8 oz.

Another thing that you may or may not have: snowshoes are half off right now. Upgrade the ones you have or pick a pair up for next year.

New PFD, new stove, white gas, rope ... I can hardly get out of that place without spending $200 bucks.

I like Adam's first item - a PFD. Since it is sorta free, you might as well get the best they've got.

A good hammock is indispensible. As Bogs mentioned, some new clothing would definitely be worth it. Perhaps some new cookware, sleeping pad, etc. I would have no problem spending that money bigpaddle!

For me...I'd put it towards a new GPS.

ill say a carbon paddle (even tho rei doesnt seem to carry them)

i also second the top shelf pfd suggestion.

A gps is a good idea, but they won't discount the 20% on those.

If you are into purifying water a new SteriPen cost about $100.

without knowing your gear situation I would say a good way to cut weight is to go to a top of the line sleeping bag pad if you use one and a tent I would say that would be a good investment I wanted a msr that I was looking at, but went a little cheaper.

Global star sat phone for $749. 20% brings that to $600 minus the $200 thats $400, almost 1/2 off.

Just reread the $200 limit part. Look the ENO hammock system after comparing i chose the ENO, has a higher wt limit and I liked the slap strap system for handing. I just liked the way it all went together.

One of my purchases for this year will be a portable NOAA weather radio. The last 3 years in a row we have been in the middle of "severe" weather without knowing it. Some would consider it part of the wilderness experience to "ride it out", but personally I am a bit of a weather nerd as it is and can tell a lot from the sky and changes in the weather, but I still wish I would've known when we were under a "severe thunderstorm warning" because it implys certain things that some people ignore.

I spent my dividend and 20% off on new lightweight sleeping bags for my 2 daughters. This will be their first year to the BWCA and I'm not carrying 2 sleeping bags that can't fit in the pack together. My 6yr old needed an adult womens bag because she's so tall already.
