Anybody ever had a loon follow you around a lake? Typically they seem to keep their distance. This guy did just the opposite. He was going after our bait, both minnows and rapalas. He even took a couple bites at a northern we had on the stringer. Just seemed odd.

Nope, they usually shy away from me. Great pictures though.

Great Photos! We love the Loons and sometimes we can get very close - but they never stayed close for very long.

OH NO! A Loon acclimated to and unafraid of humans. Next this Loon will be raiding the tuna pouches in our food packs and the minnows in our buckets. Oh Dear! Quick, someone invent Loon Spray.

you wouldnt have to hang the food pack very high for a loon. :)

No worries. We has an otter patrolling around our camp at night. Kept him at bay :)

Nope, very cool though. Have had one in metro lake that didn't mind a bay full of swimming families - including me maybe 30 feet away as he preened and cleaned for 45 minutes. But never had one follow me on purpose. Hilarious.

Cool. Have excellent memories of one swimming under our canoe on our first trip. Wish it happened more often.

Never happened to me. I'd like the opportunity to get some of those great pictures.

On my only solo a few years ago I had one follow me around Knife Lake for a while. Seemed like it wanted to keep me company. Swam under the canoe a few times. Very cool!

Once on a very touristy trout lake an obese loon followed us around for 30-45 minutes seemingly to bask in the camera coverage she was getting. I named her Prima but haven't been back since.

I think Loon is the Finish word for them, if you want to Americanize it try calling them a Lame Duck.

The loons told me they are huge fans of our designated trout lakes and the DNR's stocking program.

That second picture is Amazing! Those young loons are always the last to leave, no wonder he was hungry.
