"The really efficient laborer will be found not to crowd his day with work, but will saunter to his task surrounded by a wide halo of ease and leisure."

I wonder what Mr. Thoreau would have thought had he experienced the non-stop work pace of the information technology age. Maybe he would have gone further back into the woods? ;-)

Good to have your QOD back - missed it for some days.

I had a business trip to Las Vegas M-W this week. I had intended to let everyone know but ran out of time before I left. I was happy to see Adam posted a quote while I was away.

I sorta take that attitude and so does my employer. While I wouldn't say that my day is filled with "ease and leisure", I do put in long hours at work. The reason? So that I get 8 hours of work done but spread it out over 11 hours. That way I don't need to kill myself; take breaks when I need to; go for a walk (on-site walking trail), or even a paddle (a backwater of the Mississippi River is on the property); go to the gym (we have a work place wellness center), and; even do the non-fun stuff like doctors' and dentist's appontments. Oh yeah, I sometimes get to this board as well. :-)

There are exceptions of course during deadline times, but for the most part my typical 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. workday is not too work intensive. I work at a great place! Sure I wish I got paid more (who doesn't), but it does take care of its people.

Again, I work at a great place.
