Due to a greatly increased workload this year and a very busy social calendar as of late, I haven't had even a tinge of pre trip excitement, and we leave in seven days. Nothing. It even crossed my mind, however briefly, to not make the trip.

Our group had our last meeting to finalize trip plans last night. Apparently that's what I needed.

I'm feeling a little giddy, my usually tightly woven ethical and moral fabric at work is shuffling itself loose, my give a damn is almost busted.

I'm finding myself thinking about paddling through a lake of glass with a silence so loud it makes your ears ring. I can't wait to feel that jolt on the end of the line when you hook up with that first fish.

I want to sleep the good sleep of a man exhausted from a day of paddling and portaging. I want to sip bourbon around the campfire! I want to not shave or shower for days! I want to smell like pike! I wanna make a poo outside!!

It was good to see some smiling faces on some good friends last night, looking forward to a week in the woods with you guys!Look out B.W. here we come!!

Never before has a man been so excited to make a poo outside.

;-)

Have a great trip!

BTW, I really like your line about the silence so loud it makes your ears ring. Very well put.

making poo outside is one of the main reasons i go camping.

the wind in your hair and the sun on your shoulders is the way we should all be pooing.

I've been the same way....just sort of non-emotional.

I have a grad party for my daughter to get through this weekend before I can start thinking about my trip to Q in about 20 days.

But then I start thinking about 'how much gas will I need' and 'updating the first aid kit' and it gets the blood flowing.

Just get me to Sunday!

The REI emails keep playing with my emotions.

Rich M, from what you shared, it sure sounds like you're now ready to go. Enjoy!

I can relate to dadof6. Work has been crazy, I've done nothing but get the house and yard ready for my daughter's grad party which is this Sunday ("yes dear, everything will be done in time"), Monday the 14th is my wedding anniversary and we leave for Brule on Wednesday, the 16th.

I don't think I've ever been more ready for a trip! Ready - hell ya, prepared - haven't even had time to get started!

Referring to it as making a poo will get your man card snatched away in a hurry :-) P. S. You have the best profile picture ever, HILARIOUS !
