I'm just about out of wild rice. Around here it is $5 for a half a pound. I know it is cheaper in Ely, Two Harbors, and Grand Marais. Do y'all have recommendations for a place to buy 4 or 5lbs.? I think I have bought it for less than $4 a pound at Mealey's and VNO in Ely, and at a Holiday station in Two Harbors.

When you buy wild rice, make sure it isn't paddy rice which is sold in many stores.
This is what you are getting for $4-$6 per pound.
These paddy rice grains are almost black, and about 3/8ths of an inch in length.
The "true" wild rice grain is is longer, nowhere near as black, and tastes much better.
This will run you about $10/lb and is well worth the extra cost.

The extra expense of the wild over paddy rice is well worth it to me. Nett Lake rice ranks up there among the best Nett Lake wild rice

have also had rice from Leech Lake, and was very pleased, but don't recall if it was from here or not Leech Lake wild rice
