So how many of you people are from Ohio on this board? I'm located about 25 miles north of Dayton in Piqua. Just curious to see how many others there are out there...........

Born and spent most of 50 yrs. about 50 miles east of cincy and about 5-10 north of river. Hill country, tobacco country full of displaced Kentuckians. :) Great place to grow up. An hour or so drive to 'the mall' and full of small farms.

Ran into a guy named Bob from Ohio. We were on the portage into Beth. He was solo with an old aluminum canoe. He said he always has trouble finding partners so he goes by himself. I told him about BWCA.Com. So maybe some day I'll see him again with a friend from Ohio he met on this site.

I'm in the Columbus area; Pickerington. I've been doing trips for about 6 years now. Going in on Stuart, early June!

Back in 1998 we ran into a group of guys from Ohio on a portage deep in the Quetico. They thought we were from MN because of the tags I have on my canoe. We started talking and it turned out they were from a neighboring town 7 miles away called Troy, Ohio. I told the main guy that we don't care for people from Troy ( old rivals ) and he just laughed, but he didn't know I was serious :-)

I see Crooked Paddle is from Greenville, that's only 15 miles away.

Good to see I'm not the only Ohioan on the board...........

Brown County, about 30 miles east of Cincinnati.

No real idea why, but Ohio seems to be full of 'water people'. At one time, I'm told, Ohio ranked 3rd among states with the most certified scuba divers, and the CincyPaddlers are the largest paddling club in the country (maybe the world?) at over 1600 members.

Don't care if you like Piqua or not I played football for the catholics at Sidney Lehman :-) We don't like people from Covington :-)

I too went to OU...class of '01.

Don't get me started on Covington...one of my college roomates was a Bucc...though the S-water is a nice stream. I assume you've floated it? Did an overnighter a few years back from Versailles to Covington. Great stretch of river.

I fish the Stillwater every now and then, but my backyard is the Great Miami ( actually there is a levy bank in my backyard, then there is a river ) so I fish mostly between Lockington and Piqua.
