I spoke with a friend today who used to work for the DNR's fire center in Grand Rapids. She said that there is a conference call among all the agencies--DNR, USFS, Park Service, BIA, etc. every Friday and Tuesday during fire season to discuss fire fighting resource needs and fire restrictions. The good news is that Duluth is getting a decent rain finally---an inch or more in spots. My friend was hopeful that some burning restrictions would be lifted tomorrow. Might still not apply to the remote campsites in the BWCA, but you can always hope.

No guarantees, but things might be looking up. Look for a news release tomorrow.

Looks like all of NE Minnesota is getting a pretty good soaking right now. Whether or not they lift the ban, it's a blessing for sure.

Riddler I can appreciate a trophy fish no matter what species it is, so thanks for saying that out loud. Bluegill trophys on an ultralight outfit are very fun !
