Looks like it would work. They are just using the straw as a sponge to wick up the oil. But if BP or the Government gets a hold of this idea it will sit in committee and be debated upon while the spill gets worse and worse. Something needs to be done to shut off the oil that is leaking.

I thought you were going to suggest BP officials drink it up... hope SOMETHING works and soon!

I heard they are using human hair to sop up oil, too. My salon is sending hair down there. But yeah, it needs to be stopped ASAP. Such a waste, both for the oil that could have been used and to the environment.

While it is so easy to demonize the BP executives, the government, whoever, the real culprit is our society's thirst for oil. We're all part of that. If you're going to drill for oil in the depths of the ocean, load it in boats and ship it to all ends of the globe, s**t is gonna happen.
