This little guy visited my deck Saturday afternoon. He was eating cat food left for our outside cats. I have had hawks, pheasants, and an occasional fox visit my bird feeding station, from time to time. Anyone else have any recent visitors?

Plums,

Spring can't be that far away if that little guy is out.

Thought about setting up a trail cam in view of my feeders to see what visits them at night.

hmmm....referance to a trail cam. me thinks a new thread will begin.

He was not concerned about me taking his picture. I was only about 8-10 feet away from him when I took this. Guess he decided he needed a mid winter snack.

Haven't seen them yet, but I have been smelling them lately when outdoors. I saw another Fisher the other day a couple of miles from my house too.

Yep, we had a visitor on Saturday night as well. I let our bid dog(Great Dane mix) out. He wanted back in pretty quick. He made it about 10' in before I knew what was up. Skunk to high heaven!!!! It was nasty nasty. I put him in the garage for the night. About an hour later I cracked the front door and the odor wafted back in. Luckily he didn't get a direct spray and the odor was pretty much gone by the next morning.

Unusual markings for a farm cat. Could use a nail clipping :)

I had different visitors. About a month ago I let my dog out for his bathroom break before bed when no more than 30 seconds later I hear him barking. At first I thought it was a deer but his barks were unusual. Upon peering out the door I spotted two coyotes walking straight at him and got within 20 feet.
It took a couple calls to get my dog back in the house because he just wanted to play.

My dog is about 60# and these coyotes were an easy 10-15# heavier. They looked well fed for winter.

Twoby are you sure that it wasn't a couple of wolves? If your guess weight is on,70 to 75# then it would be two huge coyotes. They usually run about 45 to 60#. On the other hand might be just a med. sized wolf. They will run about 60 to 140#. No matter, what ever it was keep an eye on loved ones human and canine.

JB

I've only seen a half dozen wolves and coyotes each in the wild and these were the classic marble orange coat of a coyote. I was only 60 feet from them while my springer was only 20 and they easily had 3 inches in height and girth.

Two of the most beautiful coyotes I've seen.

I have also been seeing Red winged Blackbirds, and very recently Horned Larks. Could spring really be coming?

About 3 weeks ago my yard was riddled with Robins. My Portuguese Pointer chased them all off after about 15 minutes. There must have been 50+.

I was wondering if we can have cougars in Elk River why not Wolves in Tonka. It would be great if you could get a snap shot, just dont use your pup for bait.

It looks as though your trail cam caught kanoes slinking around your property!

We've had a young deer visiting us since the day after Christmas. I haven't fed him out of hand but I think he would. He almost begs for treats. He'll eat carrots but his preference is apples... organic apples.

Hex

P.S. We named him Nikolia

We have deer in the back yard quite often. If the economy does not turn around soon I might be inviting them to dinner:)

Last Monday we had a bald eagle circling around a neighborhood frozen pond here in highly developed NW Eden Prairie.
