I'll be going on a Lake Trout fishing trip in may to the BW. We ussualy do a longer trip in the Q, and since this one is shorter and in the BW we thought we take some beer with instead of the ussual wine. We like good beer and I live in Duluth so I'm a big fan of Fitger's Brewhouse. I've searched and now know they make plastic growlers and would like to bring some. Ciould anyone give me some more specific info on them. Mainly Size? and Price? There online site has growlers on there, but doesn't say anything on the bottle type or size. Will the price be the same as the regular bottle?

I think they are right around two liters and cost seventeen for the growler and fill. Eleven for a fill after that. They also double as a water bottle after the beer is gone. Which is usualy the first night for us:). Try the oatmeal stout. Mmmm beer.

Yes they do work great as a water bottle after that, and seem to be indestructible. It's also nice that they have a measuring guidline on the side so you can keep track of who's been in your cookie jar:)

Thank you, Sounds great! I love their beer, especially the stouts. So is it a hard plastic nalgene? I thought it was more of a flexable bag like a platypus? Any pictures?

I love their Starfire Pale Ale. No growling after a growler of that for me!

Wonder if we can con them into nalgene-sized mouths :P

Hey BD, it's roughly the same size as a glass growler just with flat sides. Also it is made out of clear rigid plastic. Is it wrong to be craving beer at six am?

About how long can I expect the carbonation to last once I pop the top?

Even Georgiaboy loves their beer. It is the first night out stop when the waitress says to you. "Oh I see you've been up in the BW. Well a bit of advice I know you are thirst and hungry, but remember your stomachs have shrunk and you haven't had beer in a a week. My bet is that you will order too much food and drink too much beer. Now what can I get you" True story and she was right!

Ahh, now we are talking. Fitger's has been a favorite stop for me for years now. We always grab a growler no matter the occasion. In 2007 we bought our first adventure growler on our trip from Hungry Jack Lake to Gunflint Lake via lakes, Duncan, Rose, South, North and so on. We absolutely loved them as they are nalgene bottles. Can't remember the exact cost but somewhere around $17 or so. We have many favorite beers from Fitger's but my all time fave has to be the Witchtree ESB.

Here are a couple photos from our trip at the falls to Rose lake and a break for a great view of Rose lake with our growler.
