Here is how to protect yourself from bear attacks. Just use a 5000V electric fence. cooked brown bear.

The weight of the fence kanoes posted is only 8 lbs and the one review points out that it is convenient to use. And with a few D-cells, I doubt it is shocking any bear or other critter to death. For large groups, compared to the weight of bear barrels or lots of rope and pulleys this may not be completely out of the question. Not that I'm switching from ursacks which are also light, convenient, and rodent proof any time soon.

Guessing that's why it comes with flashing LED lights.

The only down side to the fence is portaging the generator to run it.

you don't need a generator - just lots of heavy batteries.

I have seen elk hunters use something like this to keep grizzlies out of their tents and food areas but I think they did use generators to run power.

Now that you have the bear thing figured out you just need to keep the mice, squirrels, and other critters out of the food on the ground.

Does the bear fence and batteries idea belong in the "if you were evil" thread?

I think that poor bear has been humiliated. Couldn't they at least have covered up the poor bears privates before filming it?
