Canoeing is too small of a market. But I'm sure there's DVD's out there for ya. I know Piragis has some. The Boundary Waters Journal is a great read too.

Too small a segment of the "outdoor community" and market.

And, didn't anyone tell you the last 12 years that only kayaks are cool now and canoeing is long dead just like canning and quilting?

One of my paddle buddies and I have spoke for years about the absence of such a show and of the poor quality of most of the fishing shows out there. We have thrown around the idea for a show called Fishing In a Canoe.

years ago one of the fishing programs had guys from way down south out on a smallmouth trip with the guides from the village on LLC.they thought the fishing was great but complained about the portages "all uphill"--never saw another canoe country fishing trip after that---

not sure watching someone else canoeing on TV would do it for me.

I think I'd rather take a nice vacation somewhere with warm open water and throw a canoe or kayak onto that.

maybe someone will come up with a nice immersive canoeing video game. Oh no, it's a rock! turn right! hehe. course, I suppose most canoe enthusiasts seem to be opposite of the type of people who appreciate technology on that level.

Guess that one is already included within a link above. The podcasts are great.

Lot of good stuff on youTube also. Maybe a little different theme, you will never catch me in water like this, but I have a bunch of respect for the control these guys have.

open boat fun

And the line this guy takes on the second clip of this one. open canoe

And some poling.

BrownTrout, those videos are really fun to watch. Thanks for posting.

But i have to say, I feel like a total wus after watching. :) Those guys on the first one must have some seriously large nads to do that stuff.

Here's something I've never seen before. It's by the same guy in the Poling video. Wrapping in a Wool Blanket

*Koda, check out his Aussie on this one. :)

Hey Tom, that wool blanket video was funny. The guy should have brought his dog into the blanket with him. He'd have needed only one layer, for the side opposite the dog.

Tom your welcome. I have no intention of running any waterfalls. :)

The guy in the first video is too good. Lots of bracing!

The angle set up 1/2 block upstream in the second video to catch the eddy and peel out is awesome too!.

The more exposure the BWCA gets by way of various media, the more people you will have competing for the permits we all want. I'd prefer NOT seeing BWCA on TV or national magazines. Call me selfish if you wish.

I'd like to (again) say if you have not seen Bill Mason's films, especially WATERWALKER, you have got a treat coming. Check ebay or google him for great north country videos. He also has children's films, and wolves, plus a few intertesting ones on other things, like the "Rise and Fall of the Great Lakes"

hummm?

When OLN got started - well before it changed for the worse and became "Versus" - there used to be a "Canoe & Kayak Magazine" tv show. I loved it, but after awhile they started moving around the time slots and it became hit & miss if I ever got to see it, then it just faded away.

Maybe a canoeing game for the Wii!

MrBarley good point BWCA is getting too crowded as it is. I will say this, after watching the video on white water, I will not be complaining about white caps on open water any time soon. Not till next time that is.

hehe, a wii canoeing game... great idea.

that actually could be pretty good if you hold the wiimote and nunchuck like a paddle.

I'd buy it for sure, help me get through the long cold winter by sitting in my crazy creek chair in front of the bigscreen tv pretending I'm paddling.

I used to use 'Rise and Fall of the great Lakes" in school just because I enjoyed it so much. I always found a way to weave it into geography or U.S. history (junior high).
