Can anyone suggest an outfitter from the Ely area that can drop off a canoe in the early morning at the entry point I am using? (Lake One) Do outfitters provide this service?

Thanks,
Willy

We rented ours last year from Canoe Country, they drop it off in the morning you leave, and pick it up when you're done. I think most outfitters do the same.

Hi Willy,

They probably can, but what exactly are you trying to do? They can also put one on your vehical for you the night before. Sounds like your trip is coming up soon? Feel free to email me for tips. Post your email if you want to hear from folks offline.

Thanks,
Adam

Yes, i'm going in this Friday a.m. as early as possible. We're staying in Ely Thursday night, so i'm not sure what the best idea would be. if an outfitter can drop off and pick up the canoe that would be ideal, but I don't know what exactly that requires... how would they know what time of day we will put out? we sure don't.
email me at ericrwilliams@yahoo.com if you have any advice...

Thanks,
Eric

Lynn and John at Voyager North stay up late and get up early. Call them and I bet they will accomodate any reasonable request. They are right in Ely on Sheridan street out towards the Wolf Center. They can get you your permit after regular ranger station hours also. They rent everything from aluminum to duralite and kevlar, both tandem and solos. I am sure they will have the right canoe for you.

I am using Lynn and John for our trip heading out on Thursday May 19th. We are planning on stopping by the shop on Sheridan in the morning to get the permits. They are gonna drop our boats off at the entry point, and then we will stop in on our way back through town to let them know to go and get the boats. I will post next week and let you know how it worked out . . .

Vegabond,

You might want to double check things. Thursday is the 20th. Just don't want you to show up a day late for your permit.

So John and Lynn will drop off and pick up the canoe? I thought I had to move the canoe to the entry point on my vehicle. I much prefer the drop off method. I better reserve today!

Thanks everyone for the info!
