For any of you who have an old Gel Coat canoe that looks pretty bad, here is a quick run down of what you need to do to make her look pretty again. I bought this canoe off a buddy from work for a couple hundred bucks, it's a Wenonah Fisherman.
All I did was:

First, washed it down with some heavy duty kitchen cleaner (no bleach).

Second, took a very weak sanpaper get all the dirt out of any cracks, and smooth out their edges.

Third, sprayed 303 protectant on, and wiped dry (two coats this one took)

---Also, I tried to turtle wax the gunwales and it worked out better then I thought it would.

And there you are, pictured below are the results.

Thats pretty amazing. Is that on a fiberglass or Kevlar? I have an old fiberglass canoe that the gel coat is completely dull on. I've been thinking about trying to refinish it, but I wasn't sure if it would be worth my efforts.

It is on Fiberglass. One thing to keep in mind however; once it is complete and you get up close to it, you can see the old scratches in it. They are very light however (and cleaned free of any dirt which caused my canoe to have black scrathes in it). The canoe will still look a hundred times better then before the process was started. And the time it took to make it look that was very minimal.

Im pretty sure I could have made this entire post into one big run on sentance

I would "wipe" dry but heh whatever floats your boat. Is it leather or just a soft silk whip? LOL
