I wonder if the prediction of Northern Lights appearing as far south as Ohio will come true tonight? Sounds like the best chance since 2005.

I’ve seen a few good shows in my life. Forecast is clear in Twin Cities. I’m exited and just took a nap in case I’m up late!

My brother is 59 and has never seen them. I hope he and others see them tonight especially Spartan2.

Please post photos if you get any!

I'm really looking forward to this in East Central Iowa. If it is anywhere near as spectacular as they are predicting, it should be a great show!
Now we just need to get rid of the last few clouds.

Holy moly! I thought there was no way but we just saw them from Chicago area! We went out to the lake and despite stadium and path lights we still saw greens and reds! And they were so high in the sky!

Not bad for having so much light pollution around!

Down at the NE corner of IA & WI border, and the Aurora is 360 degrees & raging here. Hope everyone is enjoying the show!

I have been so envious of the people from our neighboring towns here in Michigan who are posting beautiful photos of Northern Lights this past weekend. We were out of town, in Indianapolis for our granddaughter's college graduation, and if they were visible in the area, it wasn't where we could see them. Also, we were busy with other activities, tired in the evening, and not up for a trip out to the country away from the city lighting.

Sigh. I am turning 79 in July and I still haven't seen them. Maybe someday. Thanks for thinking of me, Zulu.

We will keep hoping Spartan2.

I was up from 1:00am - 4:00am. Sometimes there was nothing other times the whole sky lit up.
Dancing Ghosts, Angels and Ghoulish Faces appeared and just as quickly disappeared.
The swirls reminded me of Van Gough’s Starry Night Painting.
Not a lot of color but I was in the city.
I witnessed The Eclipse in Vermont a month before so I’m in Astronomical overload!

Taken in Akron, Ohio about 10:30pm Friday night. Hoped that I would see them in the BWCA or Alaska someday, never dreamed it would be this far south. My friend in Lexington, Kentucky said they were visible out in the horse farms away from the city. Admittedly much less visible to the naked eye than these iPhone photos suggest.

First photo was one my sister took near Anthem AZ. The other is a picture taken by a photographer friend of hers on his way back from the Grand Canyon. Cool moment in time with no cars on the road to icky up the pic. Amazing that they were able to see the NL so far south.

Those are great John! Lots of color and ribbons! That one looks like Pegasus The Winged Horse! I’m glad you had a clear sky! The Canadian Fires could have obscured the whole show a few days later!

Wonderful photos. I checked both nights but too much light pollution between Chicago and Milwaukee. These photos remind me of Archibald Belaney “Grey Owl” who said the Ojibway people in Canada called the Northern Lights the dance of the deadmen.

From Lake Insula 1:35am Sat. Most insane show of NL I've ever seen. Straight up and a actually more dominant to the S!! This pic it was like a radiating star with light dancing and vibrating from extended arms!
