Albert Lea, MN. Class of 76- graduated with 550 kids...guess I'm out of the running for this contest. My dad graduated from Miltown, WI with a class of 38. He was short and not too graceful, but talked about playing basketball in high school. I asked him once, "Dad, how did you make the basketball team?" His answer, "You need five guys to play."

Born in Long Praire, MN. Lived there until my 6th grade year. (Leag, I know you are younger than me but do you have any older brothers or sisters? Maybe I know them.) Moved to Madison, MN. for a couple years & then in my 8th grade year ended up in Underwood, MN where I graduated with a class of about 45. Last census population of Underwood was 337. Loved growing up in a small town but couldn't wait to get out of there once I graduated!

I grew up in Stewartsville, MO. Population 732 at that time. We had 21 in our graduating class. That included 2 foreign exchange students and some girl none of us had ever met. I since had moved to a Town of about 80,000 people and lived there for about 10 years. I got tired of that so I moved back to my home town. Well actually out in the county near my hometown.

Krusty,
Laytonsville? My god man, that is almost DC isnt it? If I am right i'm sure it's not a small town anymore. Size of town? I couldn't see my neighbors houses in Pylesville, MD. Is that even considered a town then?
Well, Marc it's about 25 miles away from our Nation's Capital, which, I'll grant you, isn't far enough, but it's still pretty much the same small town it was in the last century, though it has a Wikipedia page now, (but then, so does Pylesville). The McMansions have pretty much consumed all the farms around Laytonsville, though.

Pocono Pines, PA
Lots of summer homes. The year 'round population is tiny even to this day (maybe 300-400 but spread out over a large area). It balloons in the summer and then after Labor Day, nothing but silence. Very spread out, no real center of town because there is no actual town. It's in the center of nature Conservancy land, State Game Lands and Bethlehem Water Authority land all around it.
About 6 miles away from Pocono Raceway for you NASCAR fans.

Kingston, MN
2000 census = 120 people per wikipedia (and 27 dogs)
I was actually born in Litchfield, but home was Kingston for a short time. My grandfather built a bathroom in the basement of the house he built when my mom was pregnant with me so she would not have to go to the outhouse as I was born in February in Minnesota.
My uncle now lives on the farm and still fires up the original sauna my grandfather built.
I actually grew up all over the US courtesy of the Navy. 14 schools, and I didn't even have to repeat a grade.

I'm not in contention, but my kids have grown up in the Village of New Hartford, MN (Winona County), not to be confused with New Hardford Township. It is even on the Minnesota State Highway Map, though you'll never know you were there.
We do have a population sign - 6 1/2. It was made when my wife was pregnant with our daughter. It was my family of three and my neighbor's family of three, and my not yet born daughter. That was all there were within the boundry of the village.
My property has the General Store, Ice House, Carriage House, and Creamery. My neighbor has the Old Grain Mill, Soda Pop Factory, and One-Room School House. Of course none are in operation and serve as sheds now.

I have to share this. I googled the Village of New Hartford not expecting a thing and got Memories of New Hartford , which desribes the Village long before I moved there. I am thrilled!!!
The house she describes is my neighbor's house. I now live in the General Store and everything described took place on either my or my neighbor's property. What a treasure!!!!

Grew up in Mahtomedi, MN ... population 501 (at that time) according to the sign when you entered town. Actual "breathing" population back then was somewhere around 460, but you got extra state highway money if the population was over 500.
"Suburban" Point Harbor, NC on the Albemarle Sound is now my home ... population about 120. Spent too much time in NYC and Washington, DC before moving here.

I grew up in Nevis, MN population 197. I had 15 people in my class until 7th grade that's when I transferred to Park Rapids, MN.
The nice part about Nevis is that there are 90 lakes in a 10 mile radius.

I don't know the population of our southern Ohio farming burg, but our graduating class had 77 which was a record breaker (at the time). Not much has changed since the mid seventies; just the usual businesses moving to the fringes and the landscape becoming more dense with housing. Alot of new faces, so I'm guessing the population has doubled or more over the last 30-40 years. Most of the old fishponds, creeksides, and hunting grounds seem to have changed hands and have 'no tresspassing' signs posted but not all. "You'll Have That". :)

My hometown, Friant, California, had a population of 581 in July of 2007. I have no idea what the population was in 1946, when I was born. Although I spent a number of years in Friant, I spread my growing up among half-a-dozen small towns and cities. I went to 3 different elementary schools, 2 junior high schools, and 3 different high schools. My folks moved a lot.

I grew up in Owatonna, MN. Population 20,000. It feels like the big city compared to some of these places.
My wife, however, grew up in Wild Rose, WI. Population 765. I feel like a town called Wild Rose deserves to have a country western song written about it.
