Had originally planned on going through Winona and stopping at the License Bureau there. With the change of plans, I'm going up through IL and WI. The only two I've used in the past are in Winona and Ely. Would like to see where I can pick one up on the North Shore. Thanks!

Are you needing a fishing license? boat registration? If it is just a fishing license, you can buy those online

There is a MN DMV office/desk in the pharmacy in Grand Marais, and I think there is one in Silver Bay as well. Grand Marais DMV I got a new registration for my canoe there last year.

Word of caution - maybe a sub was there that day - but with my new canoe registration I was wrongly told I needed to go to the hardware store to buy display numbers for my canoe. When I pushed back I was simply shown a picture in the little book showing where to put numbers on a canoe - but that is only if motorized. Of all places in the world to get that wrong!

Thanks! I should have been more clear, I get my Fishing license at the Beaver House. I did not know that there was a license bureau in GM? Thanks so much!

You can definitely get a fishing license at the Buck's Hardware in Grand Marais. You can also probably get one at any Holiday gas station along the way, as well. The Isak Hansen True Value in Lutsen does canoe registrations.
