I got cold there right along with you in the first part. BRR! I hope to see a moose...and you got to see so many. Lucky! Sounds like it was a lot of work in the beginning, but worth it. Nice stack of wrist-sized firewood. ;-)

Nice trip report - you had great luck with seeing so many moose during your trip. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate - but it sounds like you had a great time anyway. My trip is coming up - 2 more weeks to go - can't wait!

That wood still may be there, too. At least we didn't use it.

That must be a pretty remote area. Very surprised that those portages were in such bad shape with the blowdowns.
Good to see your Autumn mist is still doing trips. I had one back in the 80's but not for very long. :(
Thanks for posting.

Nice job again Bannock. I always enjoy your reports. I was camped at the Kawishiwi Lake campground at the same time as your trip and it was pretty chilly. We're putting in at Lizz (#47) next week. Can't wait!!!!!!! We might have to take a nature drive up to the Iron Lake campground after getting settled in at Rockwood to see if we can see the resident moose.

Maybe your mystery night visitor-- bigger than a bunny, smaller than a bear-- was a fox. Had one in my site on Fenske Lake -- at least that is what the camp ground host told me the visitor probably was when I described what I heard.
Loved your tr. Envious you got to see so many creatures.
The fishing tip monologue is hilarious.

Nice report. I cannot believe that all those nights, in all that cool, wet weather you didn't have a fire. I'd have been burning just about any time I was in camp.
