Great report. How great it must be to take someone like Yao, from a different country into an American Wilderness. One thing that stuck in my head the entire report was from the beginning, yes, that hat at Gandor was a rip-off but for only 30 bucks more you could have had a hat to last you a lifetime and instead for 30 bucks less, you got a hotel room for one night. That's just how I tend to look at it a bit. I don't mind throwing the cash down if I know it is going to be something that should last a long time. But still, your right. That's a lot for a flipping hat! I do prefer the 20 dollar ones at fleet farm.

This was a fascinating trip report! Loved the report, loved the photos--wished there were more of them!
Yao is a trouper, and perhaps she would have enjoyed it more if she hadn't tried to do a bit too much of the work.
When I was younger (female here myself, went with my husband, just the two of us) I never thought there could be a trip too long. After a 22-day trip I didn't want to quit. But I will say we worked up to that gradually, we didn't start that way. :-) And after every trip, that hot shower and soft bed are always inviting.
Thanks for sharing the story of your trip. It was a good one.

Nice report I enjoyed it. It seems in your report that you are living in China. How did you end up there?

Thanks! I've been reading your reports as well, and I really enjoy them. It's fascinating and, dare I say, sweet to read and 'watch' your trips evolve. I trust that you two will have many more trips in the future. Best of luck to the both of you. Oh, and I really like your photos too.

Great read, thanks! I'm trying to figure out what lake you saw the pictographs on?
I've had the pleasure of visiting China a little over 10 years ago. Wonderful, beautiful people.

Thanks for the trip report. Your lady was a trouper. Take her on a easier trip next time! Nice read and if you have more pictures feel free to add them.

Great report,I had an opportunity to teach English in Japan. My daughter was on the way so I declined. Often wonder ..what if. Yao indeed is a strong woman. Hope your plan to return comes to fruition.

What an enjoyable trip report! You've got one tough little lady there! I'll bet you're proud of her. Hopefully, it doesn't take you ten years to get back.

Joe, I'm teaching here in China. Any difficulties with cultural adjustments are eased by Yao and the great kids I get to teach.

Good stuff. And if you ever want to find a place in the B-DUB and don't have the physical maps--- try this--- Voyageur Maps
I use it all the time planning trips and following other trips reports.
