I think it also depends on where you are financially. If you have the gear, a BW trip is far more affordable than a Q trip, but the Q is far easier to find solitude in.

Here's the url for Ontario Fishing http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/fishing/
Non-resident, 8-Day, Conservation License is about $24.

How about a canadian fishing license? How much do they cost?

I agree with fishguts and Mr. Barley- the cost is well worth it. To me what's excessive are the crowds in the Bwca, and not being able to find a campsite in the more "popular" areas there.

We entered through Beaverhouse last June and it cost 10 bucks a day per person and $12 I believe for the group's permit. Of coarse our shuttle to Beaverhouse and pick up on LLC cost us $145 each. This was well worth it to me. It was a real adventure.

Yup! It's more expencive than the BWCA! That's one reason why there are fewer people up there. Fewer people means more solitude and more fish. I haven't been back to the BWCA in years.....I pay the extra money, and have a great time....I haven't regretted a penny I've paid to get into Quetico............but that's just me.

Yeah I would agree it is getting a little more excessive if those are the new 2007 fees. I believe the price you found is for Prairie Portage, or Cache Bay entry from the U.S. the price is lower if you enter from the North (was 12-$13 but might of increased--don't know). So you could do it for less by entering at a different location.

Additional costs you will incur $12 reservation fee, $35 RABC fee required if you enter from Prairie Portage or Cache Bay--don't need to pay that if you enter at other locations as you would of already passed through customs.

Of course this is all in Canadian $$ so there will be some break depending on the exchange rate.

Is it worth it? For me the answer is yes,but that's just me :)

I am very interested in going to Quetico for a trip and i was interested in finding out what kind of costs i would incur by going up there.... In my Ontario Parks guide i thought it said that there was a $20 per person per night camping fee, that really seems excessive, but is it worth the extra expense? Is there other expenses that might apply that i am not seeing? How about parking?
