08/16/2023 03:18PM Just came out of Buckingham on Monday, August 14th and there are no downed trees or obstructions on the portages. There are also very few bugs. We left some fish in the lake, but had a blast catching bass. Bill |

If you happen to see two skinny guys that look alike, don't hesitate to stop by or paddle over for a swig of whiskey or two if you want. Mi casa su casa. |

08/14/2023 03:31PMOldGreyGoose: "AmarilloJim: "There are 2 water level entry's to that portage. Maybe you are both correct." Goose, curious what days you'll be in the Rawn/Buckingham area. Maybe we'll see you out there! Anyway...hope you have a great trip! |

08/10/2023 06:28PM Could be. If the two entries to the Buckingham portage that you speak of are only like 30 feet apart, my wife and I tried both. Seems like I would have seen "big trees" impeding the portage. I believe I saw the party that was headed into Buckingham, they left the day after we arrived. Anyway, I'm not implying anything, just reporting what I experienced. I came out of Buckingham the 6th, and both entries to the portage were open. Another possibility is that the party entering Buckingham cleared it, but we didn't see any fresh cutting. What matters is that I can verify it's open as of the 6th. |

08/10/2023 01:06PM Hoaf, all I know is that last Saturday, the 5th, someone named Christian Fisher told me on my Facebook page: "Big trees down at start of Buckingham portage as of last week, fyi. We debated going to our site on Rawn for saws, but it was pushing 90 with T-storms threatening. We did report it, and met another party on our way out that was headed there." So, you think he was making this up? --Goose |

08/10/2023 12:06PM Interesting that you ask that question... I just completed a 10 day trip that included Buckingham and the portages were in great shape with no trees down. This was between 7/31 an 8/6. Also portaged into the no-name lakes and did some bushwacking to the southwest towards Montgomery, and all the no-name lake portages were open as well. The interesting part is that I ran into Chris Stromberg at French Lake and he asked the very same question. Must be "Fake News" he replied to my report. Anyway, I can assure you the portages are all open. |
