Yup, still there. I saw it two weeks ago while paddling up Kahsh. I did a bushwack up to the tower about five years ago. I say bushwack because the old trail that led up there is no longer recognizable/overgrown from lack of use. It's a full station with a galvanized, practically armored shed, huge solar panels on ground level, lots of cables from the shed to the top of the tower. Impressive. The wooden helo pad was there still, making maintenance trips much easier/quicker and is probably how they hauled in all the new gear.

@ Stumpy - They used to keep the bottom portion of the ladder in the old shed....I would not risk a climb these days - probably web cams around there watching any curious visitors. Besides, the platform at the top is long gone.

That’s pretty cool!

Stumpy: "I think the tower is still there, and the weather station is on top now.
But I have not visited it in several years.

I climbed the tower a few times. There was a lookout hut on top with a trap door when I did it in the 1970s.
100 ladder white knuckle rungs.
Last time I climbed it, I had to shimmy up two levels of cross beams to reach the ladder."

from my 2002 trip

This is pretty cool, i wonder if my inreach was pulling from this weather station."

Could be handy for some occasions!

campnfish: "tumblehome: "There used to be a tower there but it’s gone. Probably some small clearing back there now with a solar panel on it.

I found that a few years back during a cold spell and imagined what it must be like there on a January day at -35’."

The tower was their last fall.

I looked for it last time I paddled down the lake and didn’t see it. I was probably too close to shore.

Looks like it's right at the Fire Tower location

It’s pretty close to where the ranger cabin is or was on Kahsahpiwi. I suppose the clearing might have been in place already which made it easier to out in a weather station.
