i was curious how long of a trip you had out of angleworm, and where you went from there? i already have a permit there for june, it was a bummer to read about avoiding it. did you fish, and were there a bunch of other people on your route

How experienced at paddling are you two?

Lake One is a nice area, but it can have a number of people there.

Also check out the Isabella River area. Lots of wildlife (moose, otter, bald eagles, beaver, turtles, loons, etcetera), good fishing, beautiful scenery and in mid August the bugs are so far down that you can enjoy this low area!

Hey there, here's my two cents worth: avoid the Angleworm entry point. My girlfriend and I entered there last summer because it was the only place we could get a permit (we threw a trip together last minute) The portage in there is a real bummer = 2 miles. By the time we got on the water that morning, we were both already exhausted, then, every site on Angleworm was taken. (it's a cool lake)

August is a good time to go but it might be crowded out there. If you can wait until early September, the mosquitos will be gone and the water still warm enough to swim.

MOSQUITOS in the B.W.C.A. can be oppressive.
Don't underestimate them or your gear to deal with them.

If you like fishing even a little bit, bring a rod. The fish in the B.W. practically jump in the boat.

Another good first-timer-entry-point is Mudro Lake.
There's a saloon there where you can get a soda or cheesepuffs on your way out which is a nice treat after a week in the wild.

Good luck, have fun

This will be my first time to Boundary Waters with my boyfriend. I have some ideas on entry points (fall lake, Angleworm lake, and hog creek sounded good). I was wondering if anyone had any tips on trip planning and how those entry points are. Also, if you have any info about how the weather might be. I'm hoping to go mid to end of August. Any input is helpful!
Thanks,
Steph :)
