I'm a big fan of the movie Forrest Gump. When he bought his shrimpin' boat, they told him it was good luck to give it a name. With that in mind, I decided to call my vessel THE BLACK PEARL. 17 ft. Bell Seliga tripper BG.
Just wondering if there's anyone else out there who has actually taken the time to come up with a name for their "boat"? Or am I the only crazy one?

Our aluminum hulk was resurrected after being wrapped around a rock on a river. It's called "The Silver Phoenix."

Mad River Eclipse - "Luna"
WhiteGold Bell Wildfire - "Lotus"
Bell MorningStar - "Venus"
BlackGold Bell Wildfire - "Black Bart"
Royalex Wildfire - "Frankenboot" or "Frank" for short
The Prism - just The Prism.
I'm resisting with all my might calling the Mad River Independence "(The) Indy."

Boats I've sold: the cedar strip was "Rosie," short for Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous stripper.
The Mad River Explorer (all 88 pounds of her) was "Bertha."
The SoloPlus and the Sandpiper had several unprintable names.
The Sundowner was just The Sundowner.
The (yellow) Bell Prodigy was The Banana.
The (purple) Mad River Outrage X I'm borrowing is the Purple Pickle.

And last but not least, my sailboat (Buccaneer 18) was named "Arnevieve" after my children.

Naming boats? What a dumb idea.

I haven't settled in on a name, but I'm thinking "Jensen" for my Wenonah Jensen 17. I know it's a stretch.

My son Joshua named his Penobscot "Sorrow", after the poem:

I walked a mile with Pleasure;
She chatted all the way;
But left me none the wiser
For all she had to say.

I walked a mile with Sorrow,
And ne’er a word said she;
But, oh! The things I learned from her,
When sorrow walked with me.

My first canoe was called Dam Buster. It was a big old aluminum canoe that we took everywhere, even over water controlled devises or so called dams.
My second canoe was named Weedy. I was learning to be a stern paddler and we always ended up in the weeds. My friend called started calling her Weed Wacker or Weedy for short. It was a Ranger canoe, big beautiful and red in color.

My Grumman is "12" because he has a great big "12" spray painted on the side from the boy scout camp I bought him from.

The Penobscot is "penobscot" if I'm feeling english snobby, "Penney" if I am feeling any love for her, and finally the "green monster" if we're bashing beaver dams.

The spirit 2 hasn't earned a name yet.

I've come up with names for several boats, particularly on long portages before I got smart and bought Kevlar. Also, names for some that we took on BW trips w/o trying them out before hand.

My fishing boat is named: "The Sieve"

My john boat is named: "Johnny Sieve"

My heavy canoe is called: "The Old Bull"

"The Sieve" is the only boat that has the letters on both sides explaining its name though.

The boats I've really liked. First canoe, a 17' aluminum Lowe was called "The Pig," "Shannon" was my second, named it after the county in MO where it was usually paddled and the green color. Over the years, I've named a couple more of those I had for a long time and was enamored with; 'Ol Blue, my Wenonah Adirondack and "Sandy," my Mad River Revelation. I think "Black Pearl" suits that beauty of yours just right!TW

With my odd sense of humor: Old Town could mean Jerusalem and day tripper could equal a beetles song from the 70's so I'd call it "The Jerusalem Beetle".

The Grumman I grew up with was called the 'lead sled' due to it's horrible lines and weight. Later, we started calling it the P.O.S
