What do you wash the tyvek with? Just water or is there a soap I can use?

One of the most multi-tasked item I bring is this old log carrier I got as present. I use it to haul logs from back in the woods, as kneeling pad at the fire, as foot pad at the hammock and wrap my sven saw in it for packing.

just run it through the washing machine , cold water, no soap needed...after a few cycles it gets soft and pliable NOTE: Don't put the sticky flap of an envelope in the washer... ... don't ask...

Need Tyvek soap? Just get an empty bottle of Tide, rinse it a few times, then fill it with water and put a full cup of the solution into every load of Tyvek. :-)

I can hear the question now, "What is THAT going to do to my washing machine?"

quote Unas10: "I use a 3'x3' piece of washed Tyvek. The washing, with no soap, removes some of the slipperiness." me too...US Post office has them sitting in their branches for free...just slice open a tyvek envelope. Or take 2 and tape together...you can use the flap sticky to do this.

I have used a couple different options. I also have a small piece of Tyvek and the other thing that I have used is my ULA rain kilt.

I would like a place to step out of my hammock. A light compact something to lay on the ground at my feet that won't be slippery if wet, and won't absorb water. And ideas?

i keep a small foam pad for my feet in my hammock. i just take it out and put it on the ground. serves three uses, the third use is a soft spot in my pack! size 2x2ft

I also have a small foam pad that's used for sitting (under butt or behind my back depending), under my feet in the hammock if necessary, and could also be used to stand on in socks/bare feet. But my dog is always along and she has her own foam pad under the hammock so I can usually just stand on it.

I too use a piece of well-washed Tyvek. It weighs little and takes up no space. (The Tyvek was washed about 50 times to get it soft)
