Wow, what a beautiful CANOE (and the family is pretty good looking also). Great to hear about the successful fishing. I am jealous you have that many options for partners for camping, very cool!

I just got back from taking a solo trip, partly because I couldn't find anyone to go with. Next year i'm going with you folks, you probably wouldn't notice another person :).

Awesome canoe. I wish I had that much fishing action during my trip.

Wow! What a crew. What a great time that must have been. Always makes for a great trip when the bugs are little to none. My last trip was like that. The hood ornament is pretty cool. I was thinking that little dog (pug? I dont know) would make a good bow ornament. Build him/her a little platform to sit on on the the bow.
Thanks for the fish info.

Thanks for sharing that report. Heading that way in three weeks, so I appreciate the good fishing. Do you have any pictures you can share of those huge lakers or that monster walleye?

Definitely a huge crew. It's the second time we've done one with that many. I think we will do a smaller group next time.

I think the most difficult part of a group this big is portaging, as there's literally a house load worth of gear to move. It's also important to be thoughtful to any other canoers/kayakers out there. 16 people can really easily be disruptive without any effort, on the lake and definitely in portages.

We have another smaller 16ft canoe but it's undergoing some major overhaul in the garage and we couldn't get it ready in time. Currently looking at making either a stitch and glue fishing kayak or a stitch and glue 3 person sea kayak. I would like to try a kayak instead of a canoe next time. A 3 person kayak would have almost the same capacity as a well planned canoe, and would behave much better in the wind.

@fitgers1. We just went through a rain and wind storm, so the dog wasn't happy at the moment. Normally she was perched on the gear in the middle of the canoe. Yes, she's part pug though.

@troutdude. Yeah, we figured we'd have a little fun with it after building the canoe for 3 months.

@Gunflinter. I'm sure another person would just get lost in the mix. Just bring a box of wine or two and you're certainly welcome in our camp ;)
