I believe the route was about 70 miles. So, we probably did about 10 miles a day.

Very nice trip. Was wondering what items you shared as a group? Looks like one tarp was used but what about stoves? Did everyone bring their own food? I take it no one shared tents.

One more question. How did you go about selecting tent pads? Was it a rotating selection of who got to pick first?
The biggest group I was ever with only had two canoes and 4 people. Four tents on a site seems problematic but I don't really know so I guess that's why I'm asking.
I think a 4 group solo would be both very fun but yet challenging at the same time. Comparing each other's gear and food would be fun.

Everyone brought their own food, gear, stoves, tents, etc. About all we shared was the large tarp and fire grate.

Did the same trip pretty much in 2010. Stayed at the same campsite I think on Aegean. Recognize the big rocks... You were very close to the cave.

Nice trip! I was emailing with Harlan just this morning about a possible route in that general area! Thanks for the great pics, and the tip about the Paull lake campsite.

Yes, the same campsite Nctry! How close to the camp was that cave? We did not see that.

Kip got the good tent pads.
Jan got the bad tent pads.
If he didn't like it, TOUGH! :)
Nah, we all just kinda picked our spots at random and never fought over one.

Great blog.
Isn't that place something?
Some of the portages are so little used you need a compass. We used to go in September through a local outfitter out of Red Lake. He was trying to drum up autumn business and charged us so little I used to wonder how he made any money. One year he told us there'd only been 900 people through - the entire season!
