Paul, inspiring trip report. Molly the lab sounds like a great tripping partner, you won't be able to leaver her home once she see's you packing your gear.
looking forward to seeing photos sometime, too.

SC,
Great TR.
Enjoyed your trip and many of your related experiences. WCPP is on my short list and your experience just moved it up. Molly is developing into a great canoe companion, good job there.

That was a scary experience with what appears to have been your acid reflux syndrome, still is not something that one wants to deal with while on a solo.
I related to your chagrin over low water and its affect on waterways and portage entry/exits. Our last 6 trips in BW have been in September and low water has been an influence by that time of the year.
Hooking up with Martin was just one of those great canoe moments that you just sit back and savor.
Thanks for sharing.

Paul,
Very nice Trip Report, nice area to travel, and also the experience of being close to a forest fire. I'm planning another trip to WCPP next year, and may take a friend also. In the process of picking one out. Lost my other one a year or so ago. They are great friends to have along.
Was able to pick up my canoe this spring after wintering in WCP. It was still intact, just needs a little TLC, which I will finish over this winter. Looking for your photos, but haven't found them yet.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving

Very excellent trip report. You really got to experience a lot with the plane trip, all the kids greeting you, a near heart attack...

You know, I had that same uneasy "Am I having the big one?" feeling on a hot sweaty portage in Quetico in 2001. Not too cool when solo. Glad it was only a minor ailment for you.

I was going through the slide show of your pics and it froze up on me... Thanks for posting.

Thanks for a great Trip Report and photos Paul. I am glad it worked out well taking Molly and you didn't die on that portage.
There was some real drama in the report with the low water and nearby fire. That is great that you met Martin and Claire.
You are lucky to have a wonderful wife and a strong faith. I hope you have many more great trips minus the low water like this one.
I can't seem to find those bright red hotdogs that look like a part of a dogs anatomy that you brought to Spring Wingnite 2011 anywhere in Minnesota. Are they only available in Nebraska?

@Zulu,
thanks for all the kind words! :)
Those cool "Red" Hot dogs are Wimmer's made in West Point, Nebraska.
I will bring some next time. You remind me I am gettin older and forget things.
