It was a great introductory trip for my dad. I think he got to see much of the BW without having to do a lot of backbreaking work. The double tow really made the trip possible. We never really portaged all our gear. We just portaged when going on day trips. The weather was perfect. Memorial Day is pretty early and you never know what to expect. We had sunny days with highs in the upper 60’s. Pretty nice for mid May. Also, we didn’t have hardly any bugs. We had about 10 minutes of mosquitoes and only found 3 ticks. Seagull Outfitters did a nice job. Deb and her crew were very nice, professional, and helpful. Deb runs a tight ship… The fishing was good. Looking back, we could have had more luck if we fished Alpine harder. We also would have done better for smallies if we had spent more time in warmer back bays. The fire damage was interesting and I’m very glad that I saw it. The vast expanse of the damge and the degree to which things were burned was amazing. But I don’t know if I would want to camp in the heart of the burn area in the middle of the summer. |

The only bad part of the report was thinking about your driving times...and going back to work. I used to do that....not anymore. |

Enjoyed reading your report - it reminded me of some later trips with my Dad. Pleased you found some co-operative fish and thankful your camera dried out. Thanks, Boppa |
