Looking forward to hearing about your trip. I bet I know which campsite you stayed on to day trip into Kawnipi. I love that area for its beauty and for its walleyes!!!!

Hi all,

I am working on a trip report and will let you know when it is posted. In a nutshell, we had a great trip. The weather was perfect, fishing good, food was great etc. We didn't get all the way up to Kawnipi, but we day tripped and had a great time.

I'll get the trip report out as soon as possible. It would be a lot easier to get it done without this job thing :)

Hi All,

We'll be going in at the end of the Gunflint, through Cache Bay ranger station and up the Falls Chain. We have a few questions for people who have been there.

• Anything of special note that we should look for?
• Lakes with particularily good fishing?
• Any great campsite recommendations? We'll have six in our group.
• Can I get a Canadian fishing license at the Cache Bay ranger station?
• What kind of paddling can we expect through Cache Bay? Near the Falls?

All for now. Thanks for any/all responses.

Sloth

Hey Sloth!

I'm considering the same trip and would love to read a trip report on your experience. Might you post something?

Many thanks!

I have gone that way several times and you really can't beat Kawnipi for wildlife/fishing experience. Stop on upper Saganagons the first night and you should catch some walleyes for supper if you can find a few SMALL enough to eat that is. Fish all the current areas on your way into Kawnipi and you will have a blast. The campsites are all pretty nice. Expect a few groups to be in there, but not crowded by any means. Have fun send us a report.
