Howard,
If you have even one person staying back, could they drop you off at a Farm Lake boat launch? Save you a mile or so paddling down Silver Rapids and around the horn plus however far up White Iron you're staying.

Thank you!
Working on getting a group of guys I've known for 30 years to do a trip in '24. Camping canoe trip a hard sell for a couple, so it'd be a hybrid trip -- rent a cabin for a week, some of us leave on a BW trip for 3-4 days while others stay at cabin, fish, etc..

Great plan! You can do the Kawishiwi triangle while others stay at the cabin. Or do a point to point trip and have them either drop you off or pick you up at the other end.

That's what I was thinking, there seem to be some decent options. I was even thinking an out & back down to Gabbro.

Question - suppose I was going in at Farm Lake EP, but staying on White Iron Lake. Paddle White Iron to Farm..... The section at Silver Rapids before the channel - I've been there many times, but always in a resort motor boat. There is a current and a lot of randomish swirling water. I haven't paddled through there. Is it tricky/tippy, or is it somewhat routine in a canoe?

I've paddled through there a few times and didn't find it tricky. I'd just look at the current and most likely stay toward the center. Of course, the current flow through there depends on releases at the dam and so can vary a lot.

Agreed. I've been through in both a kayak and a canoe and don't remember having any difficulty at all. I suppose I might wait if there was motor boat coming through but no worries otherwise. My hubby has started/ended a Farm entry trip from White Iron a few times and had no issues. Enjoy your trip!
