We went in Ram Lake entry point and then up to Horseshoe, then back to Vista and out to Morgan and the portage to e.p. 45 to exit in 2013. If I remember right the portage is fairly wide compared to others I have been on, and long. I would not say it is hard, there are rolling hills and a stream to cross.

However, we exited relatively light compared to our load when we entered at Ram. So it may make more of a difference if you enter with a full load of food. I still think it is a nice walk in the park, and would be bearable even with a heavier load.

As far as fishing is concerned it was pretty slow on Horseshoe. May have been there too early. We saw a moose on Horseshoe and we jumped a cow and a calf when we left entry 45 parking spot.

It's been a few years since I walked it, but mostly it's long - every bit of what it says. There's some boardwalk, some wet spots, a little up & down, mostly gradual. Maintenance then was so-so. A nice walk in the woods if the boy is up to it.

Anybody have recent experience with entry point 45 to Morgan lake? Is it well maintained? How about recent fishing from Morgan to vista and up to Caribou? Taking son on 10 day tour next week. Appreciate any intel you can share.
