Which model did you get? I've been looking at the Trek 30, for both baqckpacking and BW usage.

Didn't know if this was a good model?

My GPS is an Oregon 400T. If I was doing it again I would save some bucks and get the 60. Kind of the standard all GPS's are compared against.

Will echo the other comments. Have used it with my Garmin and thought it was great.

Dakota 20 - trade-off between size & features of other Garmins. Not familiar with Trek series, sorry.

Guess I've got a few months to figure it all out - will be happy to share thoughts then...

Well, I can report that we really found the Red Pine handy, helpful and actually fun to use. The zoom-in / zoom-out feature provided a useful perspective. The software also allowed you to trace your route, so you can see where you travelled. The portages were marked correctly (just as accurate as the Fisher / Mackenzie maps) - but we were going along a fairly established route, so I can't comment on remote portage locations. I'm sure I just scratched the surface on its utility, but I feel this investment was well worth it.

We used it this past Sept in the BWCA. Worked great for us with our Dakota 20.

Just got a new Garmin and was looking into Red Pine Mapping's PaddleNav map for BWCA and Quetico. Anyone use this? All feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I have it for the BWCA and the Q. I purchased the one at wing night that Red Pine donated. I have not used it yet but playing with it, it appears to be awsome! I am purchasing another for my GPS as I gave this one to the boy before actually playing with it. Looks like a great product.

We used it for the first time this summer. It was great. Which means no more (or less) mistakes than the various standard maps. I do think they are very readable basemaps and it makes it nice to just have all of the portages and campsites built in to them. We used them on a Garmin Vista HCx (if I remember the model correctly, it is one of the top of the Vista line).

Might take a look at, post in GPS forum, I linked a bunch of screenshots.
Have used printed maps made from the Red Pine software in Canada last year and the are quite accurate.

I used red pine mapping also on my Sept. trip. Very helpful little tool! Always bring a map or two with you. The little screen on my garmin 60csx made it a little hard to read at times.

So has anyone used the PaddleNav maps yet?
