Not sure how to fix your GPS. Sounds like it's quite a bit more sophisticated than mine. You could just leave it behind and take a map and compass instead... I've never had any problems downloading my fisher maps into my ziplock bag. Both the campsites and portages show up everytime. Either way, I hope you find a solution that works for you.

If your GPS has a "declutter" option - something that enables you to show less detail - try turning it off. That could be in the Display section of the Setup menu (assuming yours is set up this way). It sounds like it's a function of the unit itself, so I doubt it will help to tweak the data.

One more thing...
try zooming into an area where there is a campsite. You may have to turn off the auto zoom feature of the 450. When I created the map, I setup the Points of Interest (campsites, portage trail heads, other poi's) to be visible when zoomed into an area. If they were visible when you were looking at a large area they would clutter the screen.

Thats what Id say. See if the map is on your device and make sure it is enabled. let us know if you get it figured out.

Thanks for all the responses
Still not got it figured out though. I've turned all the other maps off and it still doesn't show the map points just portages. the points are there, you can see them if you just happen to click on the right spot, so I don't think it was an exporting issue.
I've got the camps and portages waypoint gpx file so I can use that. I would rather have the overlay map working though. so any further suggestions are appreciated

I've got the BWCA portages and campsite map from gps filedepot on my garmin 450t
however only the portages (lines) are showing up the camps (points) are not showing up
I've tried setting different zoom levels but nothing seems to work.
the camp points are there, I know this because if you touch the screen where one should be it gives you the name and info for that site and the icon appears however as soon as you release that site it becomes invisable agian
I've tried it with the 100k map that was on the gps and also with the 24k map i downloaded but i have the same problems I also removed the map off the gps and downloaded it again with the same problems any help will be appreciated
thanks

It sounds like some kind of setup issue. The Garmin website doesn't indicate how far you can customize the screen display, but maybe there's a setting that enables you to turn the touch-activated appearance of waypoints on and off. Good luck.

I'm not familiar with the 450t, so I’m just guessing by the options I found in the manual. A couple things to try:
- Under the Setup -> Map menu Advanced Map Setup -> detail, try increasing this value.
- Setup -> Map, Map Information, try turning off all of the other maps, except for the bwca map.

Also, you might need to export both the campsites and the Portages at the same time. Seems like I had issues similar until I exported them together. Not sure if you did, so jut something to check.

Still no luck on my end I've posted over on the Garmin site so maybe they can help me figure it out. I've got all the coords for all the campsites so if worse comes to worse I can enter certain campsites as waypoints and view them that way
