quote nellyson3: "Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for fishing walleye in the middle of july? Novice fisherman here, never fished in the bwca. Going to be in lake 1-4, insula, thomas, ima, and finish at moose lake. Possibly going to disappointment lake.

Looking for good spots, lures, baits, techniques. Also wouldn't mind catching some smallmouths.
Thanks! "

We fished the BWCA last year on July 13, with a guide. Trolling in 10 to 15 feet of water, with a spinner and two small hooks, using night crawlers. I guess it would qualify as a worm harness. We fished bays with the wind blowing in and deeper water rock piles. Caught walleye and smallmouth during the afternoon and evening. It was a clear full moon, right out of the old Hamm's beer commercials.
