Smallmouth ( Berkley Powerworm )
Walleye ( Jig )
Northern Pike ( Mepps spinner )
Trout ( Little Cleo spoon Silver )

When I saw the title I was hoping it was about the Beatles :) I guess you could catch all 4 on a beetle spin...hahaha.

What time of the year are we going in? If we are taking only 4 lures for May-July, mine would be

1) Rapala--floating #11 firetiger. Species: Walleye, Smallie, Pike, Trout, weights depending on season. Seriously my favorite bait to catch everything on.
2) Zoom--Super Fluke 5" pearl-white, off shank worm hook #2or3 Species: Pike, Smallmouth--I will catch 10x more bass and pike with these than my buddy casting different Mepps'
3) Spinner bait,Pumpkinseed with gold blades any shape (Pike, Bass) Any season
4) Jigs.. different sizes and colors, don't be that guy that doesn't pack jigs.

I have all these in 1 small box I label "for catching" while my large tackle box with everything else is labeled "for fishing"

I could get by with a jig for all four species, just with different plastics on it.

Walleye - jig and 3" grub
Lakers - heavier jig and 3" twin-tailed grub
Smallies - jig and hula grub
Northerns - jig and 4" or 5" grub

In fact, those have probably been my best (or at least top 2) for all of those applications.

Smallies ( JitterBug )
Walleyes ( Walleye Diver perch color )
Northern Pike ( Little Dr. Spoon Silver )
Lake Trout ( Soon to catch my first in about a month trying out the Williums Wabler )

Mepps #5 firetiger when all else fails.

Not quite addressing the question but if I could bring only 4 lures, it would be-

The Worm (black/red)
RatL Trap (gold)
#4 Mepps (gold/brown)
Little Cleo (silver)

Smallies & Walleye ( The Worm )
Northern Pike ( F11 Original Floating Rapala Silver and Black )
Lakers ( Kastmaster Silver and Blue )

I usually stick with these three lures for just about everything in the boundary waters. I use different variations of color obviously for different conditions and the rapala works well for smallies too. The Worm is about the most underrated lure in the world IMO but you have to know how to use it.

smallmouth--4" black/blue senkos (gonna try strike king zero this year for durability)
pike--titanium 3/8 oz white/red spinnerbait (fewer snags, less line twist, titanium should hold up; need extra skirts)
walleye--shad rap sounds like fun, or jig, because i'll catch smallies too; still learning on this one
trout--whatever the outfitter recommends, cause i ain't got a clue
