You gave a young man a memory he will remember for years. When my son was 9 he caught a 36'' pike in the bdub. He is now 21 and still talks about the huge pike he caught.

Went to visit some of my wife's friends from college this weekend. Turns out their 7 yr old loves to fish and asked me if I would fish with him. So off we go with sone of the most beat up/abused spinning rigs I've ever used. Immediately he's jabbering away about how he wants to catch a pike...lucky for us I spy an obnoxious spinnerbait in the bottom of his tackle box. I tell him I have a good feeling about this bait and start to tie it on....he tells me that he thinks that it won't catch anything and that he'd rather throw a worm under a bobber.

Long story short, I manage to hook a 20" pike on my second cast....he went ballistic!! I've never seen a kid so excited. For the rest of the day he bragged to all of his buddies about how he helped me catch "a big pike." After some photos with his friends we let it go, and I explained the importance of "letting the big ones get even bigger" he then told all of his buddies.

Just so cool to see the excitement that a youngster can experience from a fish that most experienced anglers would quickly catch, release, and dismiss as no big deal. It may sound cheesy but watching this kid and his excitement completely renewed my excitement for the outdoors. I hope he continues to fish and enjoy all the outdoors have to offer.
