Well, my trip has come and gone, and i’m sad to say that the tail dancers did not produce for me. My fishing luck just did not take the trip with me. Perhaps my presentation was incorrect, too fast or too slow.

After reading this thread I picked up a purpledescent to add to the couple TDs I typically carry. Glad I did for my recent solo venture.

purpledescent in clear water, pink uv in stained
I'll tie on anything though if I'm not getting bit.

We have done quite well with Purpledescent and Flash Yellow Perch. However, some days they seem to prefer a whiter variation and Bleeding Pearl has outperformed. If you are fishing tandem, I would suggest each going with a different color initially to see what color they want that day.

Thanks for the reinforcement on the purple, though having something “brighter” for lower light conditions does sound prudent.

Going up next weekend for 7-day trip, in at EP28, out at EP30. Wondering what are the preferred colors on Tail Dancers?

I’d take purple for sure, but don’t stop there. I’d add 3 or 4 more colors to the arsenal.

That’s the way it goes sometimes. Don’t give up, but I’d think about adding a little more to your arsenal. I’ve had mixed results with the tail dancer. I like trolling for trout with little cleos or kastmasters with 2 or 3 oz of weights. Sometimes those dang trout don’t want to bite though. Put the time in and you’ll eventually have success.-and then you’ll be addicted!

without question, if I had one color to select, it would be "hot chub." I've seen that color produce consistently - including one bass shy of a double BW grand slam on a single May day.
