That's just a little over a pound per day, excluding the extra. Do you have any idea of the calories per day? And what size bag is that packed in? I'm also wondering what your cook kit consists of and how much it weighs?

Have never broken it down that far. Meals are planed around 1/4 lb meat servings ( 1 1/2 lbs beef=6 servings, before drying). Cook kit is a mix, mostly MSR Alpine Gourmet frypan bowl lid , add a cup and small bowl. Stove is MSR Dragonfly, and 1 22 oz bottle of fuel. Reynolds Release al. foil for impromptu ovens. Reconstituted and prepared meals probably hover around 12 to 16 oz. per. Bag is a 10 liter silnylon roll top bag that fits into a Ursak.

Butthead,

Do you just tie that Ursack to a tree or how do you protect that food?
Are you hanging it or what? I use a bear vault just curious.

Thanks for sharing,

Sunny, I do either, as seems fit for the campsite. Main reason I went with the Ursak was rodent damage to food bags and contents. Have no problems since!

Looks good......I myself have had the dehydrator and the vacuum packer going through a little workout this last couple weekends, I don't eat much anymore, but my 17 year old makes up for what I don't eat.

quote boonie: "What's that food bag for 6 days weigh, butthead?"

8 Lbs. 2 oz. with spices and a group meal (3 solo paddlers) of potatoes Au Gratin potatoes and ham, added.

I have packed this way for several years and the weight and volume has been consistent, tending slightly smaller with improved ingredients. I will end up after 6 days with a spare 1 1/2 lbs. or so of extra food left. I consider that a good emergency buffer.

I do tend to do things differently,

Top left, down,
Butter,,oil, drink mix, maple syrup, sausage, beef, bacon, tomatoes and sauce, vegetables mixed, soup mixes, cheese, sour cream, gravy, mashed potatoes mix, Bisquick, potato pancake mix, noodles, chocolate, fruit, nuts, coffee.

About a dozen meals, soups, drinks, and snacks for a 6 nite trip (I make small serving when alone).

From this I can mix and match what I want to make, spaghetti, stroganoff, stews, chili (that just reminded me to add a bag of spices), pancakes, biscuits, etc.

PS: just added dried chili peppers, Italian herbs, garlic salt, salt and pepper, bh
