Camp Notes: We stopped here for a quick stretch and snack on our way to Lower Basswood Falls from Mudro entry point. It's a very nice site with a good kitchen layout. Also, right on a point so that will help with a good breeze. Lots of spots for tents and to hang a food pack. I would stay here if camping on Horse Lake and it was available.

Camp Notes: Saw someone else mentioned the stone livewell back in 2005, that is crazy! The livewell was there this summer and it was awesome. This site is not for those who wish to have peace and serenity, but is one of the best campsites I have stayed at. The views on "hammock point" are incredible, especially with a west-facing site and the site provides wind to keep the bugs down. Sandy beach, great tent pads, great fishing from site, an awesome livewell and fantastic views. Only downside - heavily used site but if you are there with a group that probably doesn't matter so much anyways.

Camp Notes: This is a great campsite. 3+ tent pads and plenty of hammock spots on a peninsula where you get plenty of wind.

Camp Notes: Wonderful. Sandy beach, and space for 4+ tents & tarp, plus area to spread tents out including breezy point. Expansive views of lake & sunset. Fine spot for sunset photos. Average firegrate & bench logs, hungry mice here.

Camp Notes: Camped here in late October 2010 for four days....awesome site! Had great views of Horse Lake, and subsequent full moons and sunsets...heard the calls of a wolf pack as well. The peninsula has several large red pines...and a nice sandy beach on the south side.

Camp Notes: Very large site with all the benefits described in other reports. Site has lasting memories that it has been overused and/or abused. We were infested with mice that ransacked the site. Not just the couple of nuisance visitors, but full fledged infestation. They would surface in the low light hours and were in everything. We moved one of the tents out onto the 'rock' peninsula to get reprieve. Very popular spot with visitors in the fall that are accustom to snacks...

Camp Notes: Excellent campsite. Peninsula offers great views, and enough wind to keep the bugs down. Plenty of room for tents. I awoke briefly during the night to hear wolves howling. One tends to see folks paddling by frequently, though.

Camp Notes: This is a very nice camp site that easily accommodates a large group. There are large flat tent pads and plenty of places to hang a food bag. The little peninsula is a great place to hang a hammock and enjoy the panorama. This is the site I try to get each time I go to Horse. If you need fire wood, though, you'll probably want to paddle somewhere else on the lake though, this is a popular camp site.
